10 questions ...

10 Questions

So what did you think of the assignments?

How would you rate the assignments in terms of difficulty?  Look at them both, and just tell me which ones were easy, which ones were harder.  Or were they both easy or both hard? if so, can you give me an example of a subject you’ve learnt?

For 3 in one gaming you did 2 games .. (so answer two out of the following three questions)

In the Space invader game, name one thing you learned during its development.
In the maze game name one thing you learned during this assignment.
In the card game name one thing you learned during this assignment.

Right, here’s a slightly off the wall one:  did you learn any maths during this experience?  These assignments?

Do you think you gained any maths when you did any puzzles for the maze game?

How do you rate your maths?  Give us a scale, are you good?
What GCSE grade have you got etc?

How hard did you find the maths during these assignments?

Do you think your opinion’s towards maths has changed?
Pls Answer these 10 questions with as much detail as you can and pls put your name.

    1. Q1) The three in one assignment proved to be very helpful in terms of gaining further knowledge in terms of creating games and varying my styles.
Q2) I'd say initially it was challenging to begin with for both games as they both operated differently, but once I got the hang of the mechanics it soon fell into place much smoother. I began to develop a better understanding of coding.
Q3) I found the Space Invaders game slightly more challenging than the Maze game.
Q4) For the Space Invaders game, I learnt how to make the hoard of aliens progressively move down towards the player.
Q5) For the Maze game, I learnt how to implement questions into the game that would alter the room.
      Q6) No, I didn't learn any Maths that I didn't already know.
Q7) No, because my Maze game focused away from Mathematical questions.
Q8) I'd personally say my Maths is at a good level, nothing amazing, but I have the base knowledge and a decent understanding of more advanced questions.
Q9) Again, no Maths were used so I can't comment.
Q10) No, for the reasons given above. Feel like I should've used Maths in my game now...

    2. Q1. I found it very useful in terms of getting grips with different types of games on GameMaker.
Q2. I felt that the first game I did (Maze Game) was easy but the space invaders game was quite tricky.
Q3. In the maze game, I learnt how to implement questions into the game and link them to in game progression.
Q4. In the space invaders game, I learnt that making a cool down/delay on firing can be very hard and frustrating.
Q5. I didn’t learn any maths throughout any assignment that I didn’t already know.
Q6. I got a C in maths and I think I’m average at maths in most it’s branches.
Q7. The maths wasn’t hard at all.
Q8. My opinion on maths still hasn’t changed. I still don’t like doing it, but will if I have to.

  5. Q1 - I thought the assignment was fun and gave me a chance to learn new features and methods of doing things in game maker that I have have no found before.
Q2 - The first game I did (Blackjack) was very difficult but gave me a chance to learn new things, The space invaders game I felt was quite easy for me, but I tried to find ways in which I could improve the game more to make it more challenging for me.
Q3 - While developing the platform game I learnt how to create paths for objects to follow and how they work.
Q4 - While developing the car game learnt a lot about variables and global variables and how to create and use them properly.
    Q5 - I wouldn't say I learnt any maths, I just used stuff I already knew.
Q6 - I would rate my maths skills around a 5.5 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best.
    Q7 - I got a C in my maths GCSE.
Q8 - I found the maths quite easy because it was mainly just adding and subtracting in the game.
Q9 - My opinion of maths has not changed because I still don't particularly like/enjoy it.

  7. 1. The blackjack game was hard in terms of coding, and the space invader game was hard in terms of how many objects and sprites you had to add to the game, the hardest i would say is the blackjack game though as i diden't get to finish it and i imagine it would just get harder and harder.
2.i learned a lot about coding and scripts in the blackjack game, more about implementing scripts into the game itself more than anything. in the space invader game i learned a lot about how to make a top-down shooter game which helps a lot.
3/4. i Don't particularly think i learned any maths during those two games, if i had done the maths game i think this would be a whole different answer.
    5. i'd say im about a 6
    6. i think i got an E at gcse level
    7. Not much really.

  10. 1. the assignments helped me to learn and further my understanding on many areas of game design though some of the deadlines for them i felt could be improved upon seeing as we always had multiple assignments at any one time.
    2. both games were simple enoughto grasp and used diffrent means to create the product which helped me to use skills from a variety of areas.
    3. out of the two games we made the easiest was probably space invaders simply because i didn't have to create as many sprites and objects as i did for the educational maze game.
    4. each helped me improve upon my skills in commands, paths and coding.
    5. In the Space Invaders game i was able to improve my Coding and Path skills
    6. In the maze game i was able to improve upon my skills with commands and in particular alarms and timings
    7. I learnt the importance of time management as i was able to keep on top of the work load as a whole where many others were far behind at certain points
    8. i do not think i gained any maths skills as the question level we had to implement was below that of my own
    9. im fairly confident with my maths skills and believe myself to be at a high B GCSE level of maths
    10. my opinions towards maths are the same as before this assignment.
